Can-Do Startup Provides Boost To Wireless
Internet
SAN DIEGO, CA - April 15th 2003 (INB) - Wireless GardenTM has created the first
commercial quality, low-cost range boosting antenna for wireless Hotspots and
consumer networks. The directional antenna, called the Super CantennaTM, allows
customers to increase the range and signal quality of their own wireless network
or connect to other wireless networks in their neighborhood.
The use of Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) Hotspots and community wireless networks
around the world has enjoyed tremendous growth in the past few years. According
to the Gartner Group, there will be 5.4 million Wi-Fi users this year alone and
the number of public networks available to web surfers is expected to top 15,
000.
Wi-Fi networks or "Hotspots", which are popping up everywhere from
private homes, RV parks and apartment complexes to coffee houses, airports and
hotel lobbies, can reach data speeds of up to 11 megabits per second, which is
nearly 200 times faster than dial-modems. "Most of these networks have a
reach of only a few hundred feet, the Super CantennaTM increases that range dramatically," said
Jason Brook, the CEO of Wireless Garden.
"Of course we're seeing business minded Wireless Internet Service Provider's
(WISP's) and Hotspot operators looking to lower network deployment costs but
we're also finding that consumers are looking to increase the range and signal
strength of their own home networks. Some customers are even networking their
Xboxes and PlayStations with their neighbors and gaming wirelessly from house
to house." added Brook.
The Company plans to launch two more range extending wireless antennas in June
2003. Like the Super Cantenna(TM), the new Wireless BoosterTM Antennas are designed
to further increase the range of your Wi-Fi connection at a substantial cost
savings.
Super Cantennas can be purchased online at Cantenna.com. The Company also carries
a variety of cables and connectors for wireless devices and other accessories
for wireless access points, routers, PC cards, and PCMCIA cards. Information
about wholesale and international distribution can be found at the site.
